A steamy new adult romance set in the gritty world of Hollywood entertainment. Motorcycle riding alpha, bad-boy Dillon MacAvoy tries hard not to fall for small-town girl Lane Channing in Hard Glamour.
A promise to keep....
Honoring her mother's last wish, Lane Channing vows to follow her dreams. She takes the "big risk" and leaves her small Kansas town behind and heads to LA, the city of dreams. She's got a stellar job lined up, an old Jeep, and 20 bucks to last her to her first paycheck. Her hopes shatter when she arrives to find her job's been given to someone else. Now she's broke and if she doesn't do something fast will soon be living on the streets. Welcome to cutthroat - Lane is most certainly not in Kansas anymore.
On the cusp of success...
Dillon MacAvoy has one goal - to become a star - whatever it takes. Even if it means honing his bad-boy can't-be-tamed-and-forever-single image. Besides the image isn't far from the truth. Dillon cares only about his younger brother and his career. He's on the brink of superstardom if he can just decide on the next right script. But for that, he needs a script reader he can trust.
In a strange twist of fate...
Lane Channing is Dillon's last chance. If Lane lasts the summer without becoming MacAvoy's latest conquest, she's guaranteed a job in entertainment. No problem, as long as she can ignore the heat that pulses through her every time Dillon is in the room. After all, love and commitment with a sweet, hometown girl would only ruin the Dillon MacAvoy brand.

First, 3 stars is probably too many, but it wasn't a horrible book 'per say'.There was so much repeated monologue in this book I skimmed at least 30% of it. I felt no connection to the main characters or their 'love'. They didn't have any conversations or real moments that made me feel like they fell in love. The dialogue was horrible because it was mostly non-existent. She would say something, four paragraphs of repetitive monologue later someone would reply....repeat. The sex scenes would've been better with out the dialogue because they never said anything different and it was really cheesy. Not at all sexy.
It's a predictable storyline, playing out predictably, but that's not my issue. I'm alright with reading the status quo of romance. What got me was the lack of anything substantial that built the characters or their relationship. If you're looking for a mindless read with little emotion, (maybe after you just finished a book that wore all your emotional senses out) then this would be perfect. Though I wouldn't waste money on it. It was free when I got it, if I had to pay for it I would probably be a little irritated. Get it if it's free, it's not a bad in-between book.

Hard Glamour The Glamour Series Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Maggie Marr Nina Sumter Books Reviews
If you want a Hollywood story, this book is for you. Lane arrives in Los Angeles to follow her dreams only to find out that her job was given to someone else. When she fought that maybe LA wasn't for her she receives a job offer as script reader for Dillion, the next big thing. The only thing she has to do in order to receive a full time job after graduating is to not sleep with him. If in the beginning she thinks it will be easy because he can't even stand her, later their chemistry is spiralling out of control. A very lovely cute story, written from dual POV. I think I would have liked to see more how Dillion coped with the real fame, having a relationship with Lane at the same time, but that's just me. Enjoy!
This is a new Author for me and she didn't disappoint. A girl with a big dream, takes a huge risk. Falling as low as she can go, while taking the risk. She shows how strong she can be. Love he roller coaster ride in this story!! Don't want to spoil it for any romantics that are looking for a great read. This is definitely worth the time.
This book was what I would refer to as just an okay read. There's nothing exciting happening between these two, unless you love lots of explicit sex. I really wanted to love this story, but I just couldn't feel a connection to the main characters. The dialogue became very repetitive throughout the whole story, which started to drive me crazy by the end. Even though I was very disappointed by the time I was half-way through.....I kept reading with hopes that it'd get better, but sadly I think it just got worse as the story went on.
The thing is, the plot line really had potential and the characters should have worked, but sadly it just didn't turn out to be something that I'd hoped it would be.
This is the story of Lane and Dillon. Lane is a small-town gal who has high hopes. She can't look back as she travels across the country to LA for a summer internship. Cruising around town, she ends up interrupting a closed-set and nearly running over the big star of the film.
Dillon can't fathom his bad luck.. on a closed-set no less. Nosy tourist who can't watch where she's driving! He sets her straight by taunting her until she leaves the set.
Lane can't imagine her bad luck. Her job has been given away straight from under her feet, and she feels horrid for almost running down that gorgeous rising star. But, lo and behold, Lane has a secret guardian angel who was looking out for her without her knowing. She's got a summer job assisting a rising talent in the movie biz, and if she lasts all summer she can get into her dream job at the biggest production company in LA. But when Lane realizes who she'll be working for, can she survive? And with all the sparring and disdain from bad-boy Dillon, Lane can't resist the look in his eye. He may come across as a big jerk with no feelings, but Lane witnesses a side of him that she can't help but fall for the sensitive guy.
I was drawn to both characters instantaneously. Lane is the beautiful, wide eyed dreamer from the Midwest stepping out on faith for a change in her life. Dillon is the movie star on the brink of reaching Hollywood’s “Holy Grail”of actors. Their first encounter was unexpected. The sexual attraction is undeniable but Dillon’s mouth doesn’t always have great communication with his brain. Lane feels it too. She may be a little out of her territory but she’s nobody’s fool. The more they get to know each other, the more they can heal each other. Great storyline and even hotter love scenes ❤️
Dillion is a narcissistic, up in coming Hollywood star. He's known for being the bad boy. Sleeping around even with his own female script readers. New in town from Kansas, college girl Lane almost runs him over. They have words, later on she ends up being his new script reader thanks to his brother. He's a jerk at first to her but secretly can't stop thinking about her. Lane is a virgin, naive, not really knowing how things are done there. She is attracted to him but never thinks he could ever be serious toward her. She's not the right girl for him or is she?
Great book by a new to me Author.
This book began so obnoxiously that I actually put it down and thought about scrapping it. I love reading anything in the entertainment world so later I decided to trudge on. I am so glad I did!! Don't be discouraged by the first few chapters!
The characters grew on me and I was a actually cheering Lane on even though I wished she would've kept up her resolve a bit longer. She needed to keep hating Dillon and make him suffer longer until he really realized what a dick he was. But I did like that she saw things in a realistic way - that she knew this was just a summer gig - rather than becoming a completely gooey, rose colored glasses girl right away.
Overall fun story. 4 stars for editing/proofreading things here and there and too many repeated phrases throughout.
This is the first book I've read by this author. I like her style enough to read on in this series and her other series as well.
First, 3 stars is probably too many, but it wasn't a horrible book 'per say'.
